Time For Fixin The Lies

I have adapted the lyrics of  I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag by Country Joe & The Fish (Joe McDonald wrote it in 1965 and performed it at Woodstock in 1969 http://www.rockcellarmagazine.com/2013/01/07/country-joe-fish-the-greatest-protest-song-of-the-60s/#sthash.8zcw6Guf.dpbs)…I call it “Time for Fixin’ the Lies Rag:”

Time for Fixin’ the Lies Rag” by Bill Dahl – melody by Country Joe & The Fish
Well…come on sensible Americans,
Uncle Sam needs our help again.
Trump’s got us all in terrible jam,
Around the globe – throughout the land.
Pick up your phone and get ready to run,
We’re gonna have a whole lotta fun.

CHORUS

And its 1,2,3 what are we fightin’ for?
Please ask us we do give a dam, our next stop is Washington,
and its 5,6,7 open up the White House gates.
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why…WHOOPIE! –  we can’t stand the lies!

Healthcare for all is way too slow, one reason it’s time for go-go-go.
There’s plenty of changes to be made, right wing agenda – don’t make the grade.
We know when they drop their next domestic policy bomb,
The coordinates will be all wrong.

CHORUS

And its 1,2,3 what are we fightin’ for?
Please ask us we do give a dam, our next stop is Washington,
and its 5,6,7 open up the White House gates.
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why…WHOOPIE! –  we will end the lies!

Now come on people lets move fast, our big chance is here at last.
It’s us they fear and you they dread, time to advance uncommon sense instead,
We know that progress can only be won, when we blow their agenda to kingdom come.

CHORUS

And its 1,2,3 what are we fightin’ for?
Please ask us we do give a dam, our next stop is Washington,
and its 5,6,7 open up the White House gates.
Well this ain’t no time to accept their lies…WHOOPIE! –  We’re gonna replace these guys!

Now come on mothers throughout the land, pack your bags for Washington,
Come on fathers don’t hesitate, save your family before its too late,
Time is tickin’ on all our clocks, It’s time to march and wear holes in our socks!

CHORUS

And its 1,2,3 what are we fightin’ for?
Please ask us we do give a dam, our next stop is Washington,
and its 5,6,7 open up the White House gates.
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why…WHOOPIE! –  It’s time to fix the lies!
Neo-Nazis have no place, Not in the U.S. – not the human race.
Come on America, extinguish all this hate.
It’s time to rise up and show these guys the gate!
CHORUS

And its 1,2,3 what are we fightin’ for?
Please ask us we do give a dam, our next stop is Washington,
and its 5,6,7 open up the White House gates.
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why…WHOOPIE! –  Let’s sing for Trump’s bye-bye!

The Night They Drove The Bully Down

An ode to those who stood up to the bully at Mars Hill Church in Seattle.  Sung with the melody of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” by The Band.

Bully Pain was the name
And I thrived on the Mars Hill train
‘Til Jesus cavalry came
And tore up the tracks again

T’was the fall of ’14
Pastor remained unrepentant and mean
Before the dawn of Halloween, The Bully had fell
It’s a time we remember, oh so well

The night they drove The Bully down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove him outta town
And the people were singing
They went, “Na, na, la, na, na, la”

Back home by Seattle’s sea
When one day they called out to me
“Bully, quick, come see,
There goes Jesus’ Cavalry!”

Now, we were afraid to do what we should
Too many didn’t care if his behaviors were good
You take what you need
And you leave the rest
But we should never
Have allowed the Bully to make this mess!

The night they drove The bully down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove him outta town
And all the people were singing
They went, “Na, na, la, na, na, la”

Like the others before us
Confrontation must be planned.
And like the others around us
Who took a rebel stand.

He was young, proud and brave
The bully was hidden in his cave
We swear by the mud below our feet
You can’t raise a bully back up
When he’s in defeat!

The night they drove The Bully down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove him outta town
And all the people were singing
They sang, “Na, na, la, na, na, la”

The night they drove The Bully down
And all the bells were ringing
The night they drove him outta town
And the people were singing
They sang, “Na, na, la, na, na, la”

Instrumental Intro:

He provides the air we breathe
He provides the light we see
The source of our community
All praise for this reality…

Chorus: (Spread your arms wide when you sing ‘us.’ Point up when you sing ‘God,’ to the person next to you at ‘You‘ and to yourself when you sing ‘Me.’ ).

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God, You and Me.
It’s the way God designed us,
The way it’s supposed be.

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God you and Me!
He’s here to remind us,
Become all we can be.
It’s all about us!

He adores our diversity
He forgives our iniquity
We’re the ones the world can see
Reflections of His majesty…

Chorus: (Spread your arms wide when you sing ‘us.’ Point up when you sing ‘God,’ to the person next to you at ‘You‘ and to yourself when you sing ‘Me.’ ).

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God, You and Me.
It’s the way God designed us,
The way it’s gotta be.

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God you and Me!
He’s here to remind us,
Become all we can be.
It’s all about us!

Weeping over all forms of poverty
Suffering from every infirmity
You’re the comfort beyond every tragedy
Open our hearts so we may see…

Chorus: (Spread your arms wide when you sing ‘us.’ Point up when you sing ‘God,’ to the person next to you at ‘You‘ and to yourself when you sing ‘Me.’ ).

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God, You and Me.
It’s the way God designed us,
The way it’s supposed to be.

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God you and Me!
He’s here to remind us,
Become all we can be.
It’s all about us!

We’re the ones Your children meet
Transform us God, we’re incomplete
Help us to live as
Your  heart, hands, and feet…

Chorus: (Spread your arms wide when you sing ‘us.’ Point up when you sing ‘God,’ to the person next to you at ‘You‘ and to yourself when you sing ‘Me.’ ).
It’s all about us!
It’s all about God, You and Me.
It’s the way God designed us,
The way it’s gotta to be.

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God you and Me!
He’s here to remind us,
Become all we can be.

It’s all about us!

Today we pray that You will restore us
Prepare us for the day before us
Accept our praise as we sing this chorus

Chorus: (Spread your arms wide when you sing ‘us.’ Point up when you sing ‘God,’ to the person next to you at ‘You‘ and to yourself when you sing ‘Me.’ ).

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God, You and Me.
It’s the way God designed us,
The way it’s supposed to be.

It’s all about us!
It’s all about God you and Me!
He’s here to remind us,
We are who they see.

It’s all about us!

Bring em Home

Saddle up you soldiers! Grab your gear, gun and vest.
Time to come on home
From where we sent our best.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

It’s time for sons to embrace their fathers,
For moms to hug their daughters.
For the little one’s to hold the voice they’ve heard but have not seen.
Pack it up and come on home…each and every courageous U.S. Marine.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

Return home to this land of beauty
All who have performed your duty.
Let’s raise our flag together; forever we’ll all hail her.
Pack it up and come on home…each and every valiant U.S. sailor.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

You can hold onto that unfinished letter.
We’ve got something better.
We’ve got a party planned right here at home in your own backyard.
Pack it up and come on home… you warriors of our own National Guard.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

You’re about to get another taste of a home cooked meal.
This ain’t no drill, nor a dream…it’s for real.
We’re fixin a feast for each of you who have been so long at war.
Pack it up and come on home… you gallant one’s of the U.S. Air Corp.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

We can’t wait to get our arms around you.
Our pride may astound you…our heroes of whom there are none too few.
We’ve prepared the essential re-entry resources
Pack it up and come on home… you servants of the U.S. Armed Forces.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.

Rally round em America!
May our pride remain aglow from sea to shining sea.
When you meet them on the sidewalk
Make sure to thank them for their sacrifice to this, our Land of the Free.
Let’s welcome them home America, to become all they’re created to be.
It’s high time…high time…to bring em home.
