Mexico City is the 7th largest city in the world, and the largest in Mexico, with a population of 22 million residents (This is the population of the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM), which includes Mexico City and 60 metropolitan municipalities as of 2024). It is the capital of Mexico. This area encompasses 1,485 square kilometers (573 square miles). It is the largest metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere, and the largest city of Spanish speakers in the world. You could spend 2 years exploring this city and not see it all. the altitude is 2,240 meters (7,350 feet) above sea level). Honestly, you simply MUST visit Mexico City for a minimum of 7 days. (Book Casa Mannach in colonia La Condesa where we stayed. It was wonderful!).

Worldwide, Mexico City is second only to London in terms of the number of museums you can enjoy. CDMX is a diverse, bustling, a cultural mosaic conglomeration that will intrigue and mesmerize anyone. It is a photographers nirvana. It includes areas with luscious green landscapes, parks, plazas, modern skyscrapers, incredible architecture, neighborhoods of every description, art that will stun you, amazing vistas, wonderful people, street food vendors to world class restaurants, magnificent markets – with a never-ending maze of delicious culinary choices that make my mouth water just typing this sentence. (Don’t rent a car – it’s Mexico City for heaven’s sake. Traffic can be brutal. Use Uber or licensed taxis).
I have spent several days in the Zocalo area (or the historic center/zona Centro of the city) on previous visits so you will not find those images in this piece (except for a link at the end of this article).

The icon looks like a small tv with a right facing arrow in the center of the tv icon. The slideshow will run automatically or you can stop, reverse or move forward to the next image.
I spent three nights and 4 days entranced by the overwhelming beauty of the architecture of Mexico City – including the modern architecture on Paseo de la Reforma. While we reside in colonial Queretaro, Mexico, and treasure all types of art displayed in different regions of this vast and diverse country. The opportunity to capture images in CDMX of their modern architectural structures is a very real treat. It was truly a privilege to have the opportunity to photograph these magnificent architectural designs and creations. Do it!

This is a museum of one of the most famous women in Mexico. She was a gifted artist who overcame unimaginable hardships during her life and persisted in creating artwork that will endure for generations. The popularity of this museum is such that you MUST purchase tickets in advance. You must take your time and read the remarkable exhibits that chronicle her life.

A fabulous enduring monument to the nation of Mexico, its history, and its people. We went at night (after dark) so we might enjoy the lighting at night. It was well worth the Uber ride. What this monument represents and reminds everyone who is fortunate to be in its presence is truly inspiring. It is another spectacular symbol on Paseo de la Reforma in Zona Rosa in Mexico City. A must see for visitors!

Ritz Carlton Mexico City – #RitzCarltonCDMX – Carlotta Reforma Sky Bar -Ritz Carlton Hotel – Mexico City – 38th floor – Paseo de la Reforma across from the BBVA tower. CDMX – You must be dressed appropriately (“smart casual” at a minimum). Security is extremely tight to gain entrance on the ground floor. This is NOT a tourist destination. You should probably have advance reservations – even for just cockteles. This is particularly true around/before sunset. SPECTACULAR views of Mexico City!!! Of course, if you wish to have a meal, their ristorante is adjacent. World Class venue! They are very sensitive about the use of cameras here – as many of their clients desire confidentiality. I obtained official prior authorization for the use of my Canon 7D DSLR camera (trust me – it was not easy). Rooms start at $9,929 pesos or US$598 per night. #CarlottaReforma – #ritzcarltoncdmx
