The Uneasy Conscience of Modern Fundamentalism by Carl F. Henry

The Uneasy Conscience of Modern Fundamentalism

by Carl F. Henry – A Timeless Classic

For me, it is important to read the thoughts of those who came before me, as they assessed the state of the Christian faith around them, influenced by the cultural milieu and historical epoch in which they lived. Originally published in 1947, this book is essential and recommended reading for those in the emerging church. Consider the following from the author:

“I cannot set aside the conviction that we have not as a movement faced up to the seriousness of our predicament.” p. XVii

“A Christianity without a passion to turn the world upside-down is not reflective of apostolic Christianity.” p. 16 ( The PDL Editors Note: I guess that depends upon what you consider to be right-side up ).

Ponder his insights. Consider the concerns expressed by Mr. Henry in 1947 and how pertinent they are today, some 60 years later.
